It was inevitable really, and I’m surprised it took this long, Activision has announced that “Micro Items” will be available for Call of Duty: Black Ops II tomorrow. Starting sometime on Wednesday March 13th, players on the Xbox 360 will be able to add a little extra pizzazz to their boring gold Ak or needlessly blinged out launcher.
Community Manager Dan Amrich posted earlier today that, ” all of these items are completely optional, and were created for players who’ve asked for more customization options.” Most of these customization options include a weapon camo, three targeting reticles, and calling cards for 160 Microsoft Points. An example given by Amrich is the “Bacon Personalization Pack” that wraps your weapon in delicious and un-edible bacon. Flags of the World cards will also be available by region for 80 MP.
Nuketown 2025 will be free while Nuketown Zombies will be available to the general public for 400 Microsoft Points, and anlthough Amrich did mention that, “none of them affect gameplay, but they are small, specific ways to enhance your online experience.” I disagree with it somewhat since 160 MP can also get you 10 MORE CREATE-A-CLASS SLOTS! for 160 MP, something previously only available to those who Prestige. Having that many create-a-classes puts you drastically at an advantage over other players since you can essentially create the perfect class for up to 20+ different situations.
It seems appropriate to wait this long to announce these microtransactions after the whole EA and Dead Space 3 backlash, but then again, it’s good to remember all of these are completely optional, since you don’t HAVE to buy into them. But I’m still a little peeved about the 10 more classes horseshit…
