Punisher War Zone #5
Frank Castle has freed the prisoner and his accomplice Sergeant Alves, and laid down the groundwork for one helluva last stand against the Avengers. Only a few wise Avengers will take this threat seriously.
Greg Rucka‘s Punisher continues as a force to be reckoned with, continually outsmarting the Avengers at every turn. After all, this is his world, and his world. His greatest feats this issue include fooling Tony Stark not once, not twice, but three times!, shooting Thor in the face with more web goo, and filling Spidey’s torso with rubber pellets. He doesn’t do too much to Black Widow, in fact, she kind of kicks him in the face…a lot.
Loved this entire series, Greg Rucka kills it again. Carmine Di Giandeomenico’s art was spot on, and Marco Checchetto’s covers were the tits. As a fan of the Punisher, Punisher War Zone was an incredibly enjoyable experience. With the surprising cliffhanger ending this issue, I hope Rucka isn’t planning on quitting the Punisher books any time soon.
