Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #1

Is anyone tired of origin stories? Good, because I know nothing about Iron Fist, so I’m glad Marvel decided to tell his in Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #1, or at least part of his early life story anyways.

I’ll be honest, Iron Fist is kind of a downer. A bad ass, but still a downer. He continuously thinks about his father’s death even while karate chopping zealous ninjas and undead mechanical ninjas. And I guess his fiery fists don’t always work like they should either. The things you learn.

iron first: the living weapon, marvel comics, kaare kyle andrews, nerd farm blogI wanted to like Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #1 so much, giving Kaare Kyle Andrews a chance to wow me, show me something incredible. I unfortunately had my hopes set way too high, in the story department anyway. Kaare left me with a mediocre script and somewhat bland story. Although his amazing art style nearly saved the book, it’s appeal is sadly purely cosmetic.
