No live streaming from Twitch on Xbox One at launch
Earlier today Microsoft confirmed that live streaming to Twitch on Xbox One will not be an option at launch, or anytime before the new year for that matter. Xbox Gold members however will be able to watch and stream events to their console.
Xbox sent their condolences and excuses, “We know the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay is something the gaming community is excited about, and we are too. We are working to ensure the initial Twitch on Xbox One broadcasting experience meets the expectations of the Twitch community, so while this feature won’t be available right away, we’ll let you know as soon as it is ready. Our goal is to deliver it during the first part of 2014.”
As much as the resolutiongate fiasco I feel hurt the Xbox One, this little hiccup shouldn’t register that high on anyone’s radar. Sure the streaming feature is slick, but there’s really no launch titles that are going to be screaming for you to stream. Everyone has been watching Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts for a month, and seeing them in lower resolution via streaming doesn’t sound appealing, even if it is off of the Xbox One. “Wait, you mean I can’t stream someone playing Ryse or Forza 5?” said no one ever.
Let Microsoft and Twitch work out the technical mumbo jumbo and let the gamers jump right into streaming shit no one wants to watch in early 2014.
