Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes a prologue.
As I had previously believed Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes IS NOT Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, but in fact a prologue to it. Konami announced in a press release today that Ground Zeroes has you playing as the legend himself, Big Boss as you infiltrate a Cuban prison camp on a rescue mission nearly a decade before Phantom Pain.
“The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine are allowing me to express the story of Metal Gear Solid in a new way,” explained Hideo Kojima, and he believes “There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.”
So there you have it, what a nice guy letting you get acquainted with the system before plunging you into the deep systems of MGS V: Phantom Pain.
Ground Zeroes will be releasing spring of 2014 for all current and next gen platforms. For those not hip to the lingo, it’ll be $19.99 digitally for PS3 and Xbox 360 or $29.99 in physical form. It will be $29.99 and only downloadable for the PS4 and Xbox One.
