Sex Criminals #3 review
The first Sex Criminals book left me skeptical, interesting premise, likable normal characters, besides the whole orgasms stopping time thing, with a touch of comedy. With Issue #2 definitely a “building up” issue, I came into the third book hoping for the best but dreading the worst, that I would be parting with another Matt Fraction book (I recently stopped reading Satellite Sam).
Thank the gawds for Sex Criminals #3, a book that had not only the Fraction comedy I enjoy, but a ton of original and daring content. Just to name a few: main man gets hit in the face by a flying dildo, Willem Dafoe mask, a whole conversation via text messages, and a Queen musical number edited because of time constraints.
Suzie blaring Fat Bottom Girls on top of a pool table at some seedy bar, lyrics withheld by one Matt Fraction because they couldn’t get the rights for them in time. So, the scene continues as it should with Fraction explaining the whole thing over her word bubbles. First the text message conversation, then an entire musical number just put me over the edge. I love what Sex Criminals does, simply love it.
iTunes, get your act together and give the people what they want. Sex. Criminals.
